It used to open in a few seconds and now everything takes hours. Why does my mac slow down? Sounds familiar? A Mac needs at least 10% of free space.<\/li>\n<li>Too many applications are running simultaneously.<\/li>\n<li>Outdated applications or softwares. Most softwares need to be regularly updated. If applications are outdated then this can notably slow down my Mac.<\/li>\n<li>Lack of RAM. If the computer does not have enough RAM, it will struggle to complete basic daily tasks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Saturated_hard_drive_Time_to_tidy_up\"><\/span><strong>Saturated hard drive, Time to tidy up!<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You will need to figure out how much space you have left on your hard drive. If you do not have a minimum of 10% your Mac will not run in the most optimal manner. Hence you will need to reorganise your space. If it is not the case, you will need to do some tidying. This allows to free up space. You will have to organise yourself intelligently because Apple tends to mirror the information from one device to another. So if you delete a photo from your iPhone it could delete it on the Cloud and across all your devices. I will write an article on how to manage the iCloud soon.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Optimise Storage.<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 1.1429rem;\">Make sure to have it as completed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><strong>Empty Bin Automatically.<\/strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 1.1429rem;\">Turn it on. Often one can think that it is deleted \u00a0but actually it is still stored in \u00a0the bin. This is quite convenient in case you deleted the wrong file. However over time it can quickly get to various Gb of data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>\n<h6><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Reduce_Clutter_It_is_great_It_filters_through_your_heaviest_files_So_just_in_a_glance_you_know_what_is_necessary_to_get_rid_of\"><\/span><strong>Reduce Clutter.<br \/>\n<\/strong><span style=\"font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', 'Bitstream Charter', Times, serif; font-size: 1.1429rem;\">It is great. It filters through your heaviest files. For me this means storing heavy content on an external hard drive or a Cloud.\u00a0 I like keeping my Mac as clean as possible so that it runs efficiently.<\/p>\n<p>As I free up space I naturally boost my Mac. It makes me realise that many applications are open which I do not need at the moment.<\/p>\n<p>So the best is to close them and\u00a0 make sure they do not launch automatically.<\/p>\n<p>I will scroll with my mouse to the deck and simply right click on the application with the dot.
